PLASTIC GUIDE
VIP | TOURNAMENT | VIP AIR | VIP-ICE | BT | ORIGIO | MOONSHINE
VIP
VIP is a super-durable hi-tech plastic with excellent performance. VIP plastic is transparent so you can see through it. Discs made in VIP plastic maintain their flight characteristics and reliability for a long time.
TOURNAMENT
Tournament is an advanced version of VIP plastic that contains technical polymers. You cannot see through Tournament plastic. The durability of Tournament plastic is at the same level than VIP Plastic, but the Tournament's grip is slightly better.
VIP AIR
The Air Technology allows discs to lower the weight on both the flight plate and the rim. In the rim, effort has been put into guiding the majority of Air towards the center. This is done to give better impact resistance to the edge and bottom of the rim. As always lighter weights means a little bit less stability in the wind so expect the Air models to behave accordingly.
VIP-ICE
VIP-Ice is a premium blend of plastics that provides a stiffness between VIP and VIP-X. It has great durability, and more overstable flights compared to regular VIP.
BT
Westside's BT plastic was designed to feel good in your hand.
BT Soft has smooth texture and great grip in rain, snow, or shine.
BT Medium is for all conditions. It has a tacky grip and great durability. In the cold it will still have some give; in the heat it will still hold its shape.
BT Hard was designed to give the user that firmer feel while maintaining a tacky grip. Great for warm climates, BT Hard holds its shape and is extremely durable. BT Hard will give you that consistent fast release you get from stiffer plastics.
ORIGIO
Origio plastic discs are the least expensive discs in Westside Discs' line. These discs have great grip in all conditions (including wet conditions) and will beat in more quickly than other plastics, making them great discs for beginners and for anyone who wants a worn-in disc more quickly.
MOONSHINE
Moonshine discs are made with the addition of an additive which adds a glow-in-the-dark-effect to the discs. When playing disc golf during night time, all you need is to grab your flashlight, or any other strong light source, and charge up the glow properties of the plastic. Westside Discs has been using its improved Moonshine formula since 2023.
Additional Information
Some molds of the Tournament, BT and Origio Line plastic are available as "Burst" discs (two colours mixed in a variation of streaks). Some molds of VIP-Ice and Tournament Line plastic are available as "Orbit" discs as a result of a two-colour manufacturing process. Patterns and colour combinations for both effects are unique for each individual disc.
Some molds of VIP Line are available as "Glimmer" discs which have colour shifts combined with a glimmer effect.
With the addition of a glow additive, VIP and BT Line plastic are sometimes available as BT Moonshine and VIP Moonshine.
Other plastic types such as VIP-X (a stiffer version of VIP plastic with increased durability and more overstable flights), VIP Chameleon, VIP-X Chameleon and VIP-X Glimmer are generally only available in the Team Series discs and/or limited runs on selected molds.
Most of Westside Discs' discs are available in weight ranges starting at 167 grams. Lighter weight discs are made in VIP Air plastic.
Discs branded Dynamic Discs, Latitude 64° and Westside Discs (the trio is known as Trilogy) are made in the Latitude 64° factory in Sweden. The following plastic types should be equivalents:
- Retro/Prime/Origio
- Zero/Classic/BT
- Opto/Lucid/VIP
- Gold/Fuzion/Tournament
